Kwinana Motorplex Burnout King 2003

A sensational night was had by fans and racers at the 2003 Burnout King held at the Motorplex last Friday night. Despite impending rain, the large crowd turned out in force to watch local drivers, interstate guests Peter and Debbie Gray, and local hero John Zappia light up the bags on the "Snake Pit" burnout pad.

Debbie Gray joined several other female drivers completing burnouts, with the supercharged Camaro displaying a controlled and powerful performance. John Zappia's old Zap's Rat did not disapoint either, with screaming blown alcohol power in abundance. Enough power to smoke massive rear 12 inch tyres! "At least we have mags and wide tyres" jested Zap to Peter Gray later in the pits, "instead of the skate board wheels all you other guys use".

Peter and Debbie hail from Victoria, and were suitably impressed with the Kwinana Motorplex. "The burnout pad has SO much room" commented Peter, "compared to much smaller pads on the east coast. We just loved it". Peter left his trademark black marks as he headed back up the return road for a hundred yards, then turned around and returned to the Snake Pit at high speed. "To be performing beside a guy like Zap tonight was incredible, after following him for so many years in the old HQ"
