25th Nov 2003 ANDRA Professional Drag Racing Categories Open 2003/2004 Championship Chase
Opening rounds of the 2003/2004 Australian Championships for all six ANDRA Group One Drag Racing categories headlined last weekend’s iTel Community Telco Australian Nationals at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland.
The warm, humid conditions presented teams with some tuning challenges, but the smooth finish of the new Willowbank racing surface and consistent preparation by the track crew delivered a great “field of play”.
Points in each ANDRA Australian Group One Championship are allocated as follows;
Win 100 Runner-Up 80 Semi Final Lose 60 Quarter Final Lose 40 Non Qualifier 20 Low Elapsed Time (Event) 5 Top Speed (Event) 5
NB: At least one round of each national championship staged in Western Australia attracts a 50% bonus on the total for each competitor.

Brisbane’s Brett Stevens, doing double duty on four wheels and two, took his Jack Daniels Studebaker to hard earned runner-up spot. Low Elapsed Time stayed with Top Qualifier Andrew Searle, whose Acme Ford struck engine problems in the first pairing, while Ben Bray’s 235.48 mph (377 kph) added 5 points to his total.
