Gary Phillips and Grant O’Rourke, these are big burnouts in Top Doorslammer, this will be the premier field for the weekend, with all competitors the 19 of them trying to fill those 8 spots, everyone will be looking for a 6.1 something to sit comfortably in the field, both Debbies on the start line guiding their men into stage, oh and Phillips is off and a comfortable 6.18 for him and says look at me.  Grant will be looking for a better pass next run, but even though it was a nice pass from O’Rourke no doubt about it.

Aaron Lynch and Kath Stevens, now don’t forget that Lynch has run a five second pass in this car, Kath very sedate it the burnout procedure, more or less a getting to know you pass, although I am not a Ford fan – I would have to say these new Ford Slammers of the Stevens are beyond immaculate and a big feat to debut three cars at one event, it’s a peddle fest in both lanes, Stevens fish tailing down the track – sparks everywhere from the headers.  Lynch makes a pretty good recovery but this was not a pretty pass for either and will not see them in the field at this time.

Steve Packman in the second of the Stevens falcons up against Robin Judd in the Moonshine Bandit, a half track burnout from Judd, once again a short sharp business like burnout from Packman, Brett Stevens on the start line with Packman as he was with Kath, both into stage, Judd shuts it down early but once again its an untidy pass for Packman right from the leave.

Deno Brijeski and Paul Greghini, a tough burnout from Brijeski, we are only into the fourth pass of qualifying for Doorslammer but already we have had some seat of your pants type entertainment, a lot of shake, rattle and roll from Brijeski, but Greghini is on a march and straight into number one qualifying spot at this stage.

Steve Stanic in the Lucky Belleri Camaro, up against the Castrol Edge Monaro of Ben Bray, Stanic is the championship leader coming into this meeting, Stanic only has to win the first round to guarantee the championship, Ben will be throwing everything at it to make the field of this Castrol Edge sponsored Winternationals, it’s a tough leave on both sides, a peddle job in both lanes, but they both recover, they need quicker passes to secure their positions.  Just think less than two seasons ago these times would have been considered top qualifying times.  Ben Bray's run has been disqualified as he failed to report to the scales as  directed by Andra after the completion of his run.

Maurice Fabietti and Victor Bray, Bray again sponsored by Castrol Edge, once again we are expecting big things from Bray for his sponsor, he will be looking for top spot, and Victor is on a mission and a shot straight into top position – Mr Doorslammer is back, a good pass from Fabietti, but he needs to step it up just a bit.

John Zappia, a crowd favourite no matter what part of the country he is in…Stuart Bishop in the Diamond Camaro, Zappia wants top spot even if it is the first qualifier…Zappia is out with a peddle fest, but its Bishop takes off and about 60 foot out he loses it and goes into a 360 spin and then a 180 – by the 330 mark he is heading towards the wall…you can hear everyone yelling “keep it off the wall” and by some insane driving he does, just tapping the accelerator…,he just manages to keep it mere millimetres from the wall.

Ray Bernard in the 57 Chevy Nomad and Peter Kapiris, both of these huge potential to qualify in the field, but remember there is only eight spots, both leave wheels up, Kapiris pulls it back in, and runs it through, Bernard a peddle fest, Bernard oil out of the back of the car in the bottom end, both cars with chutes out and they tangle down the bottom end, but both cars pull up unscathed.

Peter Lovering in the Classic Shoebox with 0 aero dynamic ability, he will take a solo pass, it comes out hesitantly off the start line, this pass is lazy and will not put him in the field.

Brett Stevens in the third of these immaculate Fords, a strong burnout by Stevens, he needs to run quicker than a 6.43 to make the field but this is only the first session, not great off the line, but he stays on the throttle its not a great pass but he is into the field and bumping O’Rourke out.

Ben Bray back into the field he is the current outgoing Australian Champion, Gary Phillips will take him on, this championship was declared the minute that Zappia did not qualify with Steve Stanic and partner Lucky Belleri now the Title Holders.  This will be a very tough pass, the Hogs Breath piggie on the line wearing the Castrol fire suit, we have a staging duel, Phillips with tyre shake, both cars moving around, but Phillips is across the centre line, takes out the 330 beam and this run is disqualified, Bray lives to race another day.

Robin Judd and Steve Stanic, Stanic would be a very happy man after having secured the 2006 Championship, a win and a pass to the next round would be the icing on the cake here today, Judd is out hard with tyre shake, so is Stanic also with tyre shake, Judd pulling away, Stanic up on two wheels sliding into the lane behind him and taking out the 330 foot box, and following Judd a good way down the quarter, do I need to say that Judd is the winner of this race.

Well we have already seen a couple of upsets here today…what will happen with this pass, Maurice Fabietti and Paul Greghini, Greghini was the surprise packet this weekend, this is his personal best, will he have enough to put Fabietti away here today.  Greghini has troubles but this is a nice run by Fabietti, a little close to the centre line but managing to keep it off it and he goes to the Semi Final.

The Man versus The Boss, one of the most anticipated meet ups here today, Vic Bray has top qualified for this bracket, the Boss just squeezed into the field, the burn outs are enormous,

Brett Stevens is not babying this new car in the slightest; they look great on the track in this head to head match up.  Wholeshot advantage to Victor Bray, this is a race, both throwing everything at it for the full quarter but it is Victor Bray all the way here today and Stevens is back on the trailer.’

Ben Bray – Maurice Fabietti, fabulous for Castrol, fabulous for Holden, this is going to be one very tough race, can Bray pull out a fabulous number here tonight for the win?  Fabietti has the whole shot, there is a flash of flame across the finish line, might have been the burse panel, but Ben Bray could not catch Fabietti who beats him by 12 hundredths in the end.  Fabietti is going to the final here tonight and the team is going wild.

Robin Judd into his burnout procedure, Victor Bray strong and tough thru the burnout, oh no this is an upset, Judd has broken in the burnout, the race will go to Victor Bray and he waits patiently for them to push Judd back so he can leave, what a great run for Victor its 6.03 a personal best, how fitting is this to see Mr Castrol go to the final of the Castrol Edge Winternationals.

Victor Bray and Maurice Fabietti, apparently there has been much thrashing happening in the Fabietti pits to get back for this final with many racers and teams helping to ensure Maurice has a good chance at taking the money, this is his first ever Final in Top Doorslammer, in fact it has been over 10 years since he last appeared in a final back in Competition Eliminator in a Pontiac.  Victor taking his time to go into stage, this is awesome they are out like greased lightning; Victor is hunting him down and takes the win for Castrol, what an amazing race.  This is five Winternationals in a row that Team Bray has won Top Doorslammer.
